Students: Please don't go hungry!

Students, if you struggle to feed your children (or yourself), please schedule a visit to the MATC Student Food Pantry (Despensa de Alimentos para Estudiantes) at the Downtown Milwaukee Campus. You can also find diapers and pet supplies! 

Additional food pantries are located in the Student Life offices at the regional campuses and Walker’s Square.

You can also visit the the Student Resource Center in S215 Downtown to ask about help with: 

• FoodShare enrollment; 
• housing, utility bills and homelessness;
• health care, including mental health;
• child care, both drop-in and long-term, and child support (for fathers and mothers);
• domestic violence and legal assistance; 
• transportation and drivers license recovery; and
• professional clothing for job interviews.

Services are confidential and free to MATC students.

Fyi: MATC is now a drop point for free grocery delivery from Kroger stores (Pick 'N Save / Metro Market). The monthly delivery code will be sent out via The Week Ahead emails. 

Students: Get urgent healthcare for free

Full- and part-time MATC students can receive treatment for the flu, pink eye, allergies, sprains and more with no out-of-pocket costs through FastCare! Pregnancy and other lab tests are also available. Student fees paid to MATC are used to cover bills for urgent medical visits.

Care is offered at the Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin's FastCare clinics, including the new McKinley Health Center on 6th Street just north of the Downtown Campus. Students may also use Virtual Clinic.

The college offers other health resources, such as lactation and meditation rooms, to students as well. 

Healthcare includes mental health

MATC's Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), offered by appointment, are free and confidential for students. Services are available at:

CAPS partners with additional organizations for online support; email counseling@matc.edu for information.

Vision care is important for learning 

If you do not have vision insurance but are in need of an eye appointment and glasses, the MATC Student Resource Center can connect you to the LensCrafters One Sight program. This program provides an eye exam and pair of glasses at no cost to eligible MATC students.

Visit the the Student Resource Center, S215 Downtown, and ask staff for access to the LensCrafters program. 

Don't put off that dental care, either

Speaking of health care: Did you know you can get an annual dental check-up at the MATC Dental Clinic at the Downtown Campus for $40? The clinic is open to the public and students, children and adults.

Look as good as you feel

MATC's Barber and Cosmetology students at the Downtown Campus cut hair for free in the Edge of State salon — and offer other hair and nail services for nominal fees. Currently, services are by appointment only; call:

Aesthetician students provide supervised spa treatments, including facials and body wraps, at Skyn – the Spa at the Mequon Campus. Services are by appointment; call with questions.
