How to Find a Book

How to use the MATC Library's online catalog.

What Are Reserve Textbooks?

  • Reserves are textbooks and/or course-related materials made available to students in the MATC library.
  • They are located at the front desk at each campus library.
  • You can check out Reserve items with your Student ID.
  • Check out periods vary, but most items are Library Use Only, so you can use them in the Library, photocopy pages using your Student ID, or take pictures of pages with your phone.
  • Reserve items can't be put on hold or requested to send to another campus library.
  • If your instructor does NOT have a textbook on reserve, you can ask them if they can get an extra copy to put on reserve in the Library, or let us know and we can contact your instructor.

Searching for Reserve Textbooks at MATC Libraries

  • As with any book search, begin by going to the library homepage at

  • The Location will tell you where a book is located.
  • So for this example, this book is located at the Mequon (NORTH) Campus, but it is currently checked out, and you can see when it is due.
  • There is another copy at the West Allis (WEST) campus on Reserve. By looking at the Call No., you can see that it is available to use in the Library. Example: RS Room Use_West Library_Rules for writers
  • Click the box in the left sidebar to limit your results, if you want to see ONLY the books that are on Reserve
