National Library Week: 2025

Yearly celebration of libraries.

Drawn To the Library

Cautivados por la Biblioteca

Celebrate National Library Week at MATC Libraries!

Millions of people visit their libraries every week. What's the draw? Everything. During National Library Week, April 6–12, 2025, take time to discover (or rediscover) what draws people in.

Celebration Days During National Library Week

Monday, April 7: Right to Read Day, a day for readers, advocates, and library lovers to take action to protect, defend, and celebrate the right to read. The American Library Association (ALA) kicks off National Library Week with the release of its State of America's Libraries Report, including the list of Top Ten Most Challenged Books of 2023.

Starting Monday and continuing all week long, stop by the MATC Libraries to fill out a 'Drawn to the Library' sheet with the reasons that draw you to the library.  Responses will be posted in common areas at each library.

Tuesday, April 8: National Library Workers Day, a day for library staff, users, administrators, and Friends groups to recognize the valuable contributions made by all library workers.

On Tuesday, stop by an MATC Library to say hello to your dedicated library staff - Librarians, Library Technicians, and Student Staff - or share a story of your library successes on social media using the tag MATCLibraries.

Wednesday, April 9: National Library Outreach Day (formerly National Bookmobile Day), a day to celebrate library outreach and the dedicated library professionals who are meeting their patrons where they are.

Wednesday will kick off the creation period for the 2025 Tiny Art Show.  Pick up a kit at any library location and create a tiny work of art to be on display in May at the MATC Libraries.

Thursday, April 10: Take Action for Libraries Day, a day to rally advocates to support libraries.

Thank you to everyone in the MATC Community who supports our libraries and the hardworking staff!

Friday, April 11: Digital Collections Day, a day to focus on the immense collections of information libraries provide that cannot be found on the unfiltered, free internet, and the skills librarians have to locate information and instruct others on how to find what they are looking for.

Check out the MATC Libraries digital collection of over 120 databases and online learning tools and find new tools to help you study and work smarter, not harder.

While there are similarities between the libraries at MATC, each has its own unique collections and services which match the collections you'll find there.  Some locations may have additional events or experiences during National Library Week.

Meet the Library Staff!

Just as each of the libraries at MATC is unique, so too are the staff who work there.

Check out the Staff Faves page to learn more about your friendly neighborhood librarians and library technicians and get recommendations on what they read and watch.
