Find Newspaper Articles in Databases

The following databases contain excellent news sources for research papers. Search for topics, people, and places. Good for first person, eye-witness reports, opinion and editorials, and factual news reporting.

Online News Sources - National/International

CNN CNN features mostly general news, but also provides in-depth investigative reporting on specific subjects. CNN, as with many other news sources, has been accused of biased reporting in the past, so be sure and carefully evaluate what you read.
BBC News Known for top-notch world news reporting, the BBC known for balanced reporting.
Al Jazeera The online English-language news site for the Al Jazeera Arabic news channel, the leading news service in the Middle East
New York Times The New York Times is still considered the premiere newspaper in the nation. The Times does require you to pay to view certain articles, so you may want to use a library article database to search for older articles.
Washington Post The Washington Post is known for its political reporting. But it also features a well-respected opinion section, in-depth world news and foreign affairs reporting, and respected economic affairs reporting.

Google News Archives Google has some historical news archives available. Browse the list of available newspapers or search for specific locations or names. The archive includes a number of local/regional newspapers.
