The process

If you would like to join our team of excellent tutors, including Supplemental Instruction leaders and Structured Learning Assistance leaders, first learn more about the role of an MATC tutor through our Frequently Asked Questions, including information about certification as a tutor. Then visit us!

We ask volunteers to start out in the Tutoring Services office, located in Room C286 (in the C Building) at the Downtown Milwaukee Campus, 1036 N. 8th St., Milwaukee, WI 53233. This will allow you to introduce yourself to our staff and familiarize yourself with the campus.

Staff will direct you to the tutor supervisor in charge of your subject area to determine if a position is open. If there is an open position, the tutor supervisor will have you fill out application paperwork and set up a formal interview.

Tutoring Services (now in C286) is open from 7:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday for fall semester.

Most tutoring is being done online due to COVID-19. Please call ahead before stopping in: 414-297-6791.
